24 Weeks!

Camille is about the size of a cantaloupe. She's measuring 10.5 - 11.8 inches long and weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 oz. Each week she's getting closer and closer to being ready to survive (and thrive!) in the outside world. Her see - through skin is gradually becoming more opaque and has a new pink glow thanks to the small capillaries that have recently formed.  Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world.

Last week was a pretty low key week for us. Work is work - at this point I'm having a very hard time concentrating on anything that isn't baby related. This past weekend was our chapter retreat - it was a lot of fun, but boy was I tired. When I got back home, my ankles were EXTREMELY swollen. This is probably from standing up on my feet so much on Saturday and baking about 8 dozen cookies on Friday night for the retreat.

Camille continues to be a busy - body (like her Mommy), moving around ALL the time.....especially at night. I guess she's preparing me:-) Her kicks and punches have gotten way more pronounced. Alvin has been really enjoying feeling her kicks now too.

I'm not sleeping so well these days with having backaches and just not being able to find a comfortable position to sleep in. By the time I get to sleep really good, it's time to wake up for work!

I'm also starting to work on the nursery. Contacted a "potential" muralist last week to share ideas. Depending on what she comes back with - we may use her. Next steps are to schedule our classes at the hospital and finish moving our office furniture out of Camille's room. We've got a lot to do and the time is creeping up on us!

Oh - I almost forgot. Check out my new princess parking spot in the garage at work:-)
