Test Results are In!

My doctor called me on 5/24 with my test results. Everything looks fine - except my thyroid appeared to be slightly underactive (not producing enough hormones), so she prescribed me a medication (synthroid) that I would have to take daily throughout the course of my pregnancy. I had part of my thyroid removed in '99 and get it checked annually. I had never experienced any issues until now. All other test results were great! Thank you Jesus!

Really Missing Martha......

I've missed a few weeks of writing as there has been a lot going on. I have been dealing with the untimely, unfortunate passing of my dearest friend Martha Fondel Smith. I received a call on 9/14 from her husband that she suffered a stroke. I flew down the next morning to see her. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The person who has been more like a sister to me than a friend for the past 15 years, who has stood by me through thick and thin was laying in a hospital bed not able to breathe on her own and showing no signs of any brain activity. Martha's husband Tony & her family made the decision to let her go - so on Saturday evening my sweet sweet friend went on to be with the Lord. This has been absolutely devastating to me as I don't have many memories over the years that don't include her. She was my trusted a confidante and I was hers. It's A.......

GIRL!!!!!! I am tickled pink and green :-) We had an anatomy scan on Tuesday and were able to see that all of her organs have formed. All 4 chambers of her heart, brain, kidneys, liver, etc. are all there! She's measuring right on target and the doctor said that she looked PERFECT. In fact, he doesn't think I need another ultrasound....which is bittersweet for us because we enjoy getting to see our little princess. Towards the end of the ultrasound - the technician very clearly pointed out that we're having a GIRL! I've been having dreams of little boys the entire pregnancy so I was super shocked. Then the technician said normally the sex is just the opposite of the one you're dreaming of....now someone tells me! I am super duper excited to have a little "mini me." Alvin is already calling her a princess:-) So, now that we know.....I can finally settle on a theme for the nursery!!!! We left for San Francisco on Wednesday and we're really enjoyi...

Claire Elise Jones is here!

Well - we were in for the shock of our lives on Tuesday night! Claire Elise Jones took the world by storm and made a very dramatic entrance. She was born ~ 2:18 am on Wednesday May 6....and we didn't make it to the hospital. Here's how it all went down... Tuesday was a very normal day for me...no contractions and no signs that labor was approaching. I had just gone to the doctor and she confirmed that I hadn't dilated or effaced any. She even mentioned that we discuss possible inducing labor on my next appointment which would have been at 39 weeks/ 5 days. So - Tuesday night around 10:30 pm I started experiencing contractions which felt a LOT like the Braxton Hicks contractions that I experienced a few weeks prior so I didn't pay them a lot of attention. They were pretty sporadic at 7 - 15 minutes apart and then got a bit closer together. Again --- same story as a few weeks ago when I "thought" I was in labor....I really felt like this was a repeat.
