Test Results are In!

My doctor called me on 5/24 with my test results. Everything looks fine - except my thyroid appeared to be slightly underactive (not producing enough hormones), so she prescribed me a medication (synthroid) that I would have to take daily throughout the course of my pregnancy. I had part of my thyroid removed in '99 and get it checked annually. I had never experienced any issues until now. All other test results were great! Thank you Jesus!

I've missed a few weeks of writing as there has been a lot going on. I have been dealing with the untimely, unfortunate passing of my dearest friend Martha Fondel Smith. I received a call on 9/14 from her husband that she suffered a stroke. I flew down the next morning to see her. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The person who has been more like a sister to me than a friend for the past 15 years, who has stood by me through thick and thin was laying in a hospital bed not able to breathe on her own and showing no signs of any brain activity. Martha's husband Tony & her family made the decision to let her go - so on Saturday evening my sweet sweet friend went on to be with the Lord. 34 Weeks/ 1 Day

Another wonderful week anticipating the arrival of Camille!!!! We had so much activity the weekend of the baby shower - I think it took me all of last week to fully recuperate. I spent Friday between Babies 'R Us & Target returning duplicate gifts, getting more stuff, and analyzing the importance of things like bottle warmers, wipe warmers, humidifiers, etc. So thankful for great friends who provided such valuable insight because sometimes I feel like I don't have a clue! Alvin & I were up until about 3 am on Friday night...washed all of Camille's clothes/ blankets/ bedding and put everything away. Boy that was a chore. I finally have her room situated exactly as I want it - well almost! Next steps are to get the walls painted, install the chair rail, install lighting, and pick up my chair/ ottoman from Babies R Us. My chair arrived, but still waiting on the matching ottoman. We should have the nursery complete the weekend before Thanksgiving. We spent all day (9 ...

April 13, 2012 - Pregnancy Confirmation & AmFam Awards

I went to see my doctor the day after my pregnancy test for confirmation - and I got it! I was 4 weeks/ 5 days with a due date of 12/16/12 - which is my grandmother's birthday. So, I'm thinking - the next thing is maybe an ultrasound, heartbeat, something tangible!!!! I was pretty disappointed that the next appointment would be scheduled 5 weeks later!!!!! My next appointment would be on May 14. Alvin is as cool as a cucumber and could certainly wait that long - but I'm a nervous wreck! I will be counting down the days until May 14:-) After leaving the doctor we drove to Chateau Elan for the annual American Family Insurance Awards Ceremony. Alvin had a meeting as soon as we got there. I hung out in the room and called my friends to tell the good news.
