Keeping Up with the Jones'

Most of my blogs start off with “It’s been a while” – I am starting to see a trend here – LOL. It’s been increasingly difficult to carve out time to write but I’m writing now:-)  So, where do I start…..CAMILLE! She’s the beat to my heart and apple of my eye. Omigod, I just love her to pieces.   Here’s what she’s been up to: Sleeping – Well, we had a really good system down where we start our bathtime routine around 7:30, followed by a story, and then we’d rock her to sleep. She was in her crib by 8:00! Here lately – that whole schedule has been turned UPSIDE DOWN. It takes her forever to fall asleep and yeah we’re still rocking her to sleep. Then she wakes up around midnight or 1 am screaming bloody murder and then she ends up in our bed. She sleeps so bad that I always wake up with a toddler size 5 foot in my mouth. It’s an adjustment. We get no sleep, but she sleeps very peacefully.  Eating – She LOVES to snack. She gets that honestly because her dad...

It's been a ridiculously long time, since I've written - but we've been busy!!!! Camille is now 15 months old. She's growing so fast we can hardly keep up. Her favorite word right now is "NO NO NO" - she actually walks around pointing her finger and saying NO to random people. I'll admit, it's a little funny - we try very hard to not laugh.  She loves to watch the Care Bears - "Journey to Joke-a-Lot" I discovered it on Netflix because I loved care bears growing up. She loves the movie. We've also exposed her to Barney and she loves him too. Our goal was to not allow any TV watching until she was 2 years old - we've obviously bent the rule. Eating: Well I'm happy (and a little sad) to admit that she's off the breast. It's been 3 weeks today. It hasn't been too bad though. I stopped pumping at work about 5 weeks ago, then I only went to feeding her in the mornings and at night. Then I stopped the morning feeding an...

I know I'm incredibly late on this! Alvin had a really good Father's Day. We went to church and then later had dinner at Canoe - which was absolutely delicious. He's such a good daddy - but I never doubted that he wouldn't be.  Alvin's a big candy bar lover! So I made him a candy bar arrangement! He loved it. I don't even know where to start. It's been several months since I've written. The summer is almost over and so far it's been great. Camille is growing SOOO big. I can't believe how big she is. She'll be 8 months tomorrow. She babbles incessantly, her giggle is just contagious, and her smile makes my heart melt. No matter how tired I am - when she smiles it must makes me keep pressing on. It's definitely been a juggling act managing my career, motherhood, being a wife, sister, daughter & friend + trying to squeeze some workouts in! I recently started running again with Black Girls Run. I run 3 times per week and I usually run a little over 3 miles each time. I'm so happy to be back with the group.  So, let's dig into what's been happening! Travel: So, Camille had her first plane ride in May - she did great. I can't believe it's been a whole month! Let me try to refresh my memory on what's been going on!!! Camille took her very first (of many:-) plane rides on May 2. We went to Louisiana for our family's annual crawfish festival. Camille did absolutely wonderful on the plane. She really enjoys riding in the car and I was hoping that it would be the same case on the plan. She was a huge HIT at the airport. Strangers were walking up to us to say HI to our precious baby! We had a wonderful time in Louisiana. Camille got to meet SO many people. She enjoyed every bit of it. Here's a link to our album. She's 4 months old!!! So I was thinking this morning about how my priorities & the things that I get excited about have changed since Camille has made her entrance. I thought I would jot them down so that I never forget: - Getting a good nights sleep consists of being able to sleep for 4 hours in a row. - Being able to pump at least 8 ounces + during a single pumping session.  - The fact that I'm able to pump just about as much (or more) as she eats while at daycare - thus not depleting my stored supply! - Camille actually taking a morning and afternoon nap! - There are a TON of other things, but they seem to escape me right now. Did I mention how forgetful I am these days? This is now my 3rd week back at work and things are going pretty good. Camille has adjusted very well to daycare and I really really like the facility that she's going to. Her teachers are so nice and we feel that they have genuine feelings toward our daughter.
