Camille's First Plane Ride, Teething, Eating & Mother's Day

I can't believe it's been a whole month! Let me try to refresh my memory on what's been going on!!!

 Camille took her very first (of many:-) plane rides on May 2. We went to Louisiana for our family's annual crawfish festival. Camille did absolutely wonderful on the plane. She really enjoys riding in the car and I was hoping that it would be the same case on the plan. She was a huge HIT at the airport. Strangers were walking up to us to say HI to our precious baby!

We had a wonderful time in Louisiana. Camille got to meet SO many people. She enjoyed every bit of it. Here's a link to our album. Jones Family Annual Crawfish Festival 2013

 Notice, I'm not in any of the pictures as I was too busy playing photographer! LOL

 Oh and the very next week - 2 little perfect teeth popped up! Camille has been teething for quite some time. I was so excited and happy to see her little teeth. I will admit that I was overcome by a bit of sadness to see the teeth as it symbolize that our baby is growing up! I'm so not ready!

Mother's Day was absolutely fabulous. We went to church that morning and dinner at one of my favorite restaurants (Legal Foods) later that evening. My hubby bought me a Pandora charm bracelet to commemorate my first mother's day! My first 2 charms are Mother/ Daughter. I am absolutely loving my new role as Camille's mother. I'm very thankful and blessed that God has entrusted her to us. I do not ever take for granted the blessing and the responsibility that has been placed upon us.

Sleep - Well, just when we think we've made progress on this topic - we take 2 steps back. Since Camille has been teething, she is pretty irritable at night. Plus she has a cold that simply will not go away. She's been sleeping in our bed a lot more than usual. I feel so bad for her with her having the cold because there's really nothing we can do for her aside from keep her nose suctioned, run the humidifier & stand in a steamy bathroom with the shower running. I hope she feels better soon.

Toys - Camille now has a new activity center! She loves the activity center at the daycare so now she has one at home. It took her a minute to warm up to it, but now she just loves it. I think she's starting to understand cause/ effect of pushing the buttons and the sounds that they make.


 
Food - I'm very happy to report that I'm still breastfeeding! I'm able to pump at work with no issues and pumping about the same amount that she eats everyday. So, I'm continuing to build my supply. I'm planning to go for as long as I can. I will admit that Camille having teeth sort of complicates the problem! But, I'm managing. We started her on oatmeal rice cereal over the weekend. She really really likes it and had no problem adjusting to the spoon. I'm planning to start vegetables this week and introducing one new vegetable per week. I am continuing breastfeeding - the solid foods will just be in addition to! She also loves her high chair too!

On April 12, 2012 - Alvin and I received the best news ever! I took a home pregnancy test (actually I took 2) and they all reflected positive!!!!! Alvin was not home when I took the first test. I called to find out where he was - he was at a rental property that we recently purchased overseeing a rehab project. I immediately went to the house to see him. I had NO words for him once I saw him - so I just showed him the test. We both hugged and cried (mostly me) and that day was life changing for both us. In 9 months - we will be parents! At that point - we immediately called our parents. Everyone was SUPER excited! Alvin's parents have no grandchildren - so this will be their first:-) For the rest of the evening we fantasized about our baby and how our lives will never ever be the same. I'm so looking forward to moving into this next chapter with Alvin.

Really Missing Martha......

I've missed a few weeks of writing as there has been a lot going on. I have been dealing with the untimely, unfortunate passing of my dearest friend Martha Fondel Smith. I received a call on 9/14 from her husband that she suffered a stroke. I flew down the next morning to see her. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The person who has been more like a sister to me than a friend for the past 15 years, who has stood by me through thick and thin was laying in a hospital bed not able to breathe on her own and showing no signs of any brain activity. Martha's husband Tony & her family made the decision to let her go - so on Saturday evening my sweet sweet friend went on to be with the Lord. This has been absolutely devastating to me as I don't have many memories over the years that don't include her. She was my trusted a confidante and I was hers. We stood up for each other in our weddings - we got married in the same year only a few months apart. Martha ha

It's A.......

GIRL!!!!!! I am tickled pink and green :-) We had an anatomy scan on Tuesday and were able to see that all of her organs have formed. All 4 chambers of her heart, brain, kidneys, liver, etc. are all there! She's measuring right on target and the doctor said that she looked PERFECT. In fact, he doesn't think I need another ultrasound....which is bittersweet for us because we enjoy getting to see our little princess. Towards the end of the ultrasound - the technician very clearly pointed out that we're having a GIRL! I've been having dreams of little boys the entire pregnancy so I was super shocked. Then the technician said normally the sex is just the opposite of the one you're dreaming of....now someone tells me! I am super duper excited to have a little "mini me." Alvin is already calling her a princess:-) So, now that we know.....I can finally settle on a theme for the nursery!!!! We left for San Francisco on Wednesday and we're really enjoyi
