Counting down until Claire gets here!
So, we are officially in the home stretch!!!! I am 30 weeks and 2 days. Anxiously anticipating our baby girl's arrival. I must admit - I have not done one single thing to prepare, but for some reason I'm not nervous YET. I'm trying to stay as calm as possible, but with Camille I had EVERYTHING in place at this point in my pregnancy. I'm definitely a lot more "lax" this time around. I'm happy to report that all of my tests (thyroid, gestational diabetes, etc.) have come out great. This has been a very healthy pregnancy and I'm so thankful for that. I'm tired ALL time - it's becoming my "new normal" but I know it will get better soon. Claire is a busy body (just like Camille) she kicks ALL the time! I absolutely love it. I can't wait to meet her. I keep wondering what will she look like? what will her personality be? will she be like Camille?, etc. and the list goes on. My due date actually falls on Mother's Day - what a treat that would be:-)
We have decided that Camille is not quite ready to be in a bed (with no rails), so we are going to have her continue to sleep in her crib through the summer. Claire will be in our room in the co-sleeper for a few months anyway so that plan works out pretty good! We were so blessed by the magnitude of gifts we received when Camille was born that we do not need to really buy anything other than diapers and wipes - LOL. I saved EVERYTHING. The girls are born during different times of the year, so we may need to pick up some things here and there, but it shouldn't be a lot.
As for Camille's "big girl" room - I'm trying to get her excited about that. She's become very possessive and basically everything is "HERS." I asked her if her sissy could sleep in her room and she said "NO - it's MY room." So we are definitely going to have to sell her on moving down the hall to her new room. I definitely recognize the huge change this will be for Camille as she is used to receiving SO much attention. But, I'm very happy that she will have a little sister to play with. Camille is so helpful to me and I know she's going to be a great big sister. I haven't started her room yet, but I do have some ideas. The guest room already has a full size bed, so I will be getting her a new headboard/ footboard and dresser/ mirror. I haven't decided on a theme just yet. She loves Minnie Mouse - so I thought about doing it in that theme, but I know how quickly she grows out of stuff. I would hate to decorate a room in a Minnie Mouse theme and then 2 months from now she's on to something else. I think I'll add some MM accents, but try to keep the room generic. My pinterest page is FULL of ideas - I just need to nail down something. I'm giving myself until the end of the summer to do this.
So again - we are on the countdown, can't wait until she gets here!!!!! I'm so in love with her - already:-)
XOXO
Claire is about 15.7 inches long now and weighs almost 3
pounds (about the
size of a large cabbage). A pint and a
half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will shrink as she gets
bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to
develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes
closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to
changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make
out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
