28 Weeks/ 5 Days

Whoo - hoo! We're finally here. The third (and final) trimester! Camille is putting on layers of fat. She's about the size of an egg plant. She weighs in around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches. She will keep getting bigger -- and smarter -- after week 28, and other than that, she just needs a few more finishing touches. Camille is  quite the busy body. She's always moving around, kicking, and it feels like she's punching me from the inside sometimes! It's unlike anything I've ever felt before!
I have my 29 week check up on Tuesday, October 2. After that I will start going to the doctor every 2 weeks and then when I hit 36 weeks I'll go every week. I can't believe how fast this time is passing by. 

 Also - my baby showers are coming up during the month of October. I am anxious and so thankful that my friends are doing this for me. This is also a very bittersweet time because my dear friend Martha will not be here physically to experience all of this with me. I know Martha is in heaven looking down and she will always be with me in spirit.

 I'm headed to Louisiana next Thursday and we'll return on Sunday. Again - super thankful for Constance, Brooke & Valerie for planning this shower for me. I'm also thankful for all of those that will be able to attend to share in this happiness with me.

This week on 9/27 - marked me & Alvin's 4 year wedding anniversary and 9/28 marked the 5 year anniversary of our engagement. I can still remember being totally swept off my feet by Camille's Dad! I can't wait to share these stories with her.

I'll be writing again in a few days when I hit 29 weeks!!!!

    SO excited that my niece will be here soon! Can't wait to meet you Cami!!! And yes, I've given her a nickname already :)

On April 12, 2012 - Alvin and I received the best news ever! I took a home pregnancy test (actually I took 2) and they all reflected positive!!!!! Alvin was not home when I took the first test. I called to find out where he was - he was at a rental property that we recently purchased overseeing a rehab project. I immediately went to the house to see him. I had NO words for him once I saw him - so I just showed him the test. We both hugged and cried (mostly me) and that day was life changing for both us. In 9 months - we will be parents! At that point - we immediately called our parents. Everyone was SUPER excited! Alvin's parents have no grandchildren - so this will be their first:-) For the rest of the evening we fantasized about our baby and how our lives will never ever be the same. I'm so looking forward to moving into this next chapter with Alvin.

Really Missing Martha......

I've missed a few weeks of writing as there has been a lot going on. I have been dealing with the untimely, unfortunate passing of my dearest friend Martha Fondel Smith. I received a call on 9/14 from her husband that she suffered a stroke. I flew down the next morning to see her. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The person who has been more like a sister to me than a friend for the past 15 years, who has stood by me through thick and thin was laying in a hospital bed not able to breathe on her own and showing no signs of any brain activity. Martha's husband Tony & her family made the decision to let her go - so on Saturday evening my sweet sweet friend went on to be with the Lord. This has been absolutely devastating to me as I don't have many memories over the years that don't include her. She was my trusted a confidante and I was hers. We stood up for each other in our weddings - we got married in the same year only a few months apart. Martha ha

It's A.......

GIRL!!!!!! I am tickled pink and green :-) We had an anatomy scan on Tuesday and were able to see that all of her organs have formed. All 4 chambers of her heart, brain, kidneys, liver, etc. are all there! She's measuring right on target and the doctor said that she looked PERFECT. In fact, he doesn't think I need another ultrasound....which is bittersweet for us because we enjoy getting to see our little princess. Towards the end of the ultrasound - the technician very clearly pointed out that we're having a GIRL! I've been having dreams of little boys the entire pregnancy so I was super shocked. Then the technician said normally the sex is just the opposite of the one you're dreaming of....now someone tells me! I am super duper excited to have a little "mini me."
