Our Stay at the Ritz CHOA

I was telling my husband that I wanted a weekend at the Ritz where all I would do is lay in the bed, watch movies, and order room service. Well, the weekend of November 7 - 10 that's exactly what I got. On the night of 11/6, I noticed Camille had a small hard lump on her bottom that was painful to touch. We took her to Fayette Piedmont Hospital Emergency Room and they confirmed that it was a boil and needed to be drained. The only problem is that they would have to sedate her to drain it and since she had eaten in the last 4 hours they weren't able to drain it. The next morning we took her to Children's Hospital of Atlanta to have it drained --  we thought it would be an in/ out procedure. We were SO wrong. The boil had doubled in size from the night before and was very very heavily infected. They told us that they would have to administer antibiotics through an IV to be sure the infection was gone. We stayed there from Friday - Monday! And all we did was lay with Camille, watch TV, and order room service from the cafeteria! Be careful what you ask for! Camille was great by the time Monday came - I think the worst thing for her was being hooked up to the IV and unable to run around. This was a scary experience for us because up until this hospital visit we have never taken Camille to an Emergency Room or hospital since the day she was born. Really Missing Martha......

I've missed a few weeks of writing as there has been a lot going on. I have been dealing with the untimely, unfortunate passing of my dearest friend Martha Fondel Smith. I received a call on 9/14 from her husband that she suffered a stroke. I flew down the next morning to see her. Nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. The person who has been more like a sister to me than a friend for the past 15 years, who has stood by me through thick and thin was laying in a hospital bed not able to breathe on her own and showing no signs of any brain activity. Martha's husband Tony & her family made the decision to let her go - so on Saturday evening my sweet sweet friend went on to be with the Lord. This has been absolutely devastating to me as I don't have many memories over the years that don't include her. She was my trusted a confidante and I was hers. April 13, 2012 - Pregnancy Confirmation & AmFam Awards

I went to see my doctor the day after my pregnancy test for confirmation - and I got it! I was 4 weeks/ 5 days with a due date of 12/16/12 - which is my grandmother's birthday. So, I'm thinking - the next thing is maybe an ultrasound, heartbeat, something tangible!!!! I was pretty disappointed that the next appointment would be scheduled 5 weeks later!!!!! My next appointment would be on May 14. Alvin is as cool as a cucumber and could certainly wait that long - but I'm a nervous wreck! I will be counting down the days until May 14:-) After leaving the doctor we drove to Chateau Elan for the annual American Family Insurance Awards Ceremony. Alvin had a meeting as soon as we got there. I hung out in the room and called my friends to tell the good news. 30 Weeks / 2 Days! 68 Days Left!

Camille is about the size of a cucumber! She is around 15.2- to 16.7-inches long and 2.5- to 3.8-pounds. She continues to grow! At this point - her skin is getting smoother. Her brain is getting wrinklier to make way for all that essential brain tissue. She's now strong enough to grasp a finger. I had my 29 week appointment last week which went really great. Now I will start going to the dr. on a bi-weekly basis. Also - we had a really exciting weekend....my baby shower in Louisiana! The baby shower in Louisiana was so beautiful - I'm so thankful for my hostesses (Constance, Valerie & Brooke) for hosting such a beautiful event. We had a wonderful time and were so happy that so many of our family & friends were able to attend. Camille is one lucky little girl - she got a lot of really really cute stuff. I spent yesterday putting away everything and taking things off my registry to avoid duplicates.   Here are a few pictures:
