Cucumber Salad

Every since I was a kid - I LOVED cucumbers. My grandfather "Daddy Fred" would bring me cucumbers from his garden all the time. Back then - I just cut them up added salt and pepper and vinegar! I still do that from time to time:-) I've made this cucumber salad for my family and we all love it. The more it "sits" the better it is. ENJOY!

Ingredients:
4 large cucumbers, sliced
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon dried dill weed
1 cup white sugar
Optional - I added red onion and I only used about 1/8 cup of sugar.
1/2 cup white vinegar (I used 1/8 cup)
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
Directions:
1. In a large serving bowl, combine cucumbers, onions and dill. In a medium size bowl combine sugar, vinegar, water and salt; stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour the liquid mixture over the cucumber mixture. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving (the longer this dish marinates the tastier it is!).
